Methods Planning Engineer - Full Time - Leeds, United Kingdom

Based in Leeds, Sulzer’s PPR (Pumps, Parts, and Retrofit) division specialises in precision machining, repairs, and tailored solutions for essential equipment, focusing on performance enhancement, extended lifespan, and cost-effective results.

As a Methods Planning Engineer , you will be instrumental in developing efficient production methods, ensuring projects are planned and delivered on time, all while supporting the company’s broader business goals.

Your main tasks and responsibilities :

  • Prepare machining routings for all in-house manufactured parts, ensuring all required drawings and tooling are provided.
  • Monitor planned hours versus actual hours, adjusting production routings where necessary.
  • Produce assembly production packs, including routings and pre-calculated hours for all assembly operations.
  • Perform risk assessments to ensure methods are safe and ergonomically designed.
  • Support optimisation of production area layouts, fostering continuous process flow and implementing Lean manufacturing initiatives.

To succeed in this role, you will need :

  • Formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Understanding of machining and assembly practices, including their routing.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles (TPM, SMED, 5S, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to evolving demands.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills.
