We are seeking an enthusiastic Art Teacher to join a forward-thinking SEMH School in Southend. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive art lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of students with SEMH challenges.
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes creativity, emotional expression, and positive behaviour.
  • Support students in developing practical art skills alongside emotional and social growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to student development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies to maximise outcomes.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and extracurricular activities that enrich the learning experience.
  • Uphold the school’s ethos and commitment to providing an inclusive, nurturing environment for all students.

Qualifications and Experience

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Strong understanding of the art curriculum and its adaptation for SEMH students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Experience teaching in an SEMH or SEN setting.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and strategies for engaging students with SEMH needs.
  • A creative and reflective approach to teaching and learning.
