Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Care Navigator / Administrator for 14 hours per week. The successful applicant would ideally have previous GP Receptionist / Care Navigator experience but previous experience dealing with the general public in a customer service role would be advantageous. The post holder will have a good telephone manner and the ability to deal with, and remain calm when dealing with difficult situations in a firm but empathic manner.

Main duties of the job

The role includes dealing with patientsface to face, on the telephone, via text and email.

The post holder must have very goodIT skills for this role and the ability to multi-task, work as part of a team and autonomously. Use of Microsoft Officeproducts is required to enable support administratively with scanning, workflow documents, emails, and office duties.

The job would commence immediately with fulltraining given for all aspects of the role. You must be flexible to be able tohelp cover for sickness, annual leave and overtime for colleagues.

We are a small, friendly practice team situated inthe beautiful village of Metheringham. The practice is part of a Primary Care Network that includes six other practices. We have just under 6000 patients.

We retained a Good CQC rating in January2020 and standards are important to us so it is important that we recruit theright person for the role.

Job responsibilities

The role includes working within a busy reception area assisting patients with appointments face to face or by telephone, dealing with queries from patients or external agencies as well as administrative duties. Church Walk Surgery develops and builds a multi skilled team, therefore all roles are adaptable.

You will receive training so you can be a flexible member of the team to enable the practice to function at all times, particularly in times of staff absence.

Receptionist duties / skills :

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good working knowledge of word, email, internet, etc.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for the job
  • Booking appointments face to face / telephone
  • Emailing / Texting
  • Using IT systems to book blood appointments
  • Dealing with patient prescription requests and queries
  • Liaising with other community service providers such as hospitals, other GPs.
  • Handling requests from patients and GPs or local pharmacy enquiries
  • Self confidence

  • Be able to cover holidays and sickness

Administration :

  • Scanning and Read Coding
  • Organising referrals for secondary care specialities
  • Reviewing results / Notes summarising
  • Patient Registration / Registration Queries

  • QOF capture
  • Other admin tasks

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • GCSE or Equivalent Grade C or above in maths and English.
  • Desirable

  • Previous experience in a NHS GP surgery or Dispensary setting is desirable but not essential.
