Job Title : General ForepersonLocation : Central ScotlandEmployment : Full-time, permanentContract Scotland are delighted to partner with our client, a highly reputable civil engineering contractor, for their search for a General Foreperson to join their team on a permanent basis for projects throughout Central Scotland. With a robust portfolio in both the public and private sectors. Specialising in highways, road resurfacing, and various civil engineering projects, the company is poised for continued growth and success.Key ResponsibilitiesSite Management : Oversee daily site operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.Supervise and motivate workers, including subcontractors and labourers.Allocate resources, ensuring materials, equipment, and manpower are available as needed.Ensure work complies with project plans, specifications, and regulations.Monitor progress and report on site status and resource needs to the Site Manager or Project Manager.Health & Safety : Enforce health, safety, and environmental policies on-site.Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with standards.Promote a safety-first culture, addressing hazards and implementing corrective actions.Ensure all tasks are supported by risk assessments and method statements.Quality Control : Ensure work meets project specifications and industry standards.Minimise waste and ensure materials are used efficiently.Keep accurate records of site activities, including completed work and incidents.Report progress and challenges to management.Coordination & Communication : Act as the main point of contact between the site team, subcontractors, and management.Coordinate deliveries and schedule activities to avoid delays.Ensure clear communication at all project levels.Problem Solving : Identify and resolve challenges quickly to keep the project on track.Make decisions on work methods, materials, and resource use to ensure smooth operations.Essential Skills & Experience : Proven experience as a Foreman, Civils Foreperson, or similar role on civil engineering projects.Strong knowledge of civil engineering processes, including earthworks, drainage, and foundations.Familiarity with health and safety regulations and the ability to enforce them on-site.Experience managing teams, subcontractors, and daily operations.Ability to interpret construction plans and drawings.Problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.Strong communication and leadership abilities.Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office).Preferred Qualifications : Relevant qualifications in construction management or civil engineering (e.g., NVQ Level 3, SMSTS, CPCS).CSCS card and First Aid certification.What’s On Offer?Competitive salary and benefits package.Opportunities for career growth in a dynamic industry.Supportive team environment with access to training and professional development.Work on exciting projects that make a real impact.How to ApplyIf this sounds like the perfect role for you, please apply with your CV.
