Our customs office specializes in Scandinavian Road freight forwarding and groupage on behalf of DHL. The candidate must have a pro-active approach to workload and will be able to work to tight deadlines. Performance is monitored by weekly KPI's.
In the role of customs clerk, you will be responsible for the following :
- Processing import and export customs entries using our in-house system Cargowise via CDS or CHIEF
- Understanding transport documents such as T1’s, CMR’s, commercial invoices, B / L & AWB’s.
- Competing customs entries via external software such as channel ports
- Audits
- Billing Invoices
- Raising T1’s and various other documents
- Ensuring T1 documents are discharged
- Completing relevant customs training and ensuring up to date with customs regulations at all times.
- Competency with external websites such as CNS / Destin8 / CCS UK
- Liaising with accounts to ensure duty & VAT is paid promptly
- Reporting any non-compliances to your manager
- Dealing directly with government bodies such as HMRC and border force
- Competency with the trade tariff and understanding tariff preferences
- Covering weekend clearances if necessary. (bank holidays paid at overtime rate)
