Constructing complex, high value projects requires robust commercial strategies to be fully implemented in line with project governance, procedures and guidelines. The Commercial Manager will typically operate across and be a key member of multiple package teams, working directly with Package Managers, and be accountable for the commercial administration and provide key insights into the commercial performance of their package(s). They will have an in-depth understanding of their sub-contractors (and key elements of their supply chain) to help manage their performance, identify risks and opportunities and provide them with support if / when required. Depending on the scale and complexity of the project, they may be responsible for managing and mentoring commercial staff on a project.Key responsibilities will include :
- Head Contract management (Change, Monthly Applications, Contractual Entitlements, Vesting), ensuring positive cash position between upstream and downstream valuations.
- Identify and manage Risk and Opportunities for their packages.
- Build and maintain Client, Sub-Contractor and other stakeholder relationships.
- Act as interface for all commercial aspects within their package.
- Negotiate and execute commercial positions in line with Budget / forecast.
- Deputise for Commercial Lead and / or Senior Commercial Manager where required.What do I need to be successful in this role?
- The CM is a specialist role; the suitable candidate will be highly proficient and knowledgeable on technical commercial matters
- An understanding of wider industry matters, knowledge of the sub-contractor / supplier market and specific risks associated with the market.
- A detailed understanding of cost and value, and what drives a positive economic outcome.
- Contract administration is an area where this individual will excel
- Experience of managing people.
- The suitable candidate will have a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent qualification.
