English Teacher (SEMH Specialist), South Manchester, Full-Time

About Us :

We are working alongside a dedicated Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South Manchester, committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The goal is to help each student reach their full potential through tailored educational programs and a compassionate approach.

Job Description :

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to join the team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in working with SEMH students and will be responsible for teaching English to a small class within the PRU. This role requires a patient, empathetic, and adaptable individual who can create a positive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to the needs of SEMH students.
  • Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and reports.
  • Collaborate with other staff members, including SENCOs, therapists, and support staff, to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Engage with parents and carers to support student learning and well-being.

Requirements :

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working with SEMH students in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle.
