Head of Regulatory Oversight

Location : Hybrid(UK)

An exciting opportunity for an experienced regulatory manager to join the UK’s leading conveyancing and property services business. Working within a legal environment, the Head of Regulatory Oversight will work directly with the Head of Legal Practice in ensuring that high standards are met across the organisation and that the Conveyancing Departments are adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements. This is achieved through maintaining internal standards, through robust reviews of compliance, auditing and reporting on all regulatory information specific to complaints, Anti Money Laundering, and Professional Indemnity Insurance matters, such as claims and notifications.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING AS HEAD OF REGULATORY OVERSIGHT?

This role will lead and unify some of the Regulatory functions across the CLC regulated firms across the Simplify group. You will ensure that the AML Manager and the Client Services Risk Manager are meeting their optimum compliance and regulatory requirements by following policies, procedures, and system requirements to fulfil our regulatory obligations to our regulator and the Regulatory Board of Directors.

You will be responsible for setting quality standards and will help identify and deliver any training and development needs within your team required to meet those standards. You will be capable of delivering change programmes designed to improve the efficiency and throughput of your teams. As a strong team player, you will positively contribute to new ideas and deliver the vision of a single operating model for Regulatory Oversight activities.

You will be required to support the Head of Legal Practice, preparing reports required for the Board meetings and you will be at the forefront of being engaged in changes to the processes within Regulatory Oversight and system changes which provide for a streamlined process.

This full-time permanent role would suit an individual with strong attention to detail, an understanding of the Council for Licensed Conveyancers Code of Conduct, property law and practice and a passion for maintaining and improving compliance.

THE JOB

A role that is key to the regulatory structure of the business, you will be responsible for leading necessary organisational processes both internally and externally. Duties and responsibilities will include :

  • Lead and implement the delivery of a unified operating model across the Regulatory Oversight Team.
  • Work alongside the Head of Legal Practice to create a high performing culture through the setting of clear objectives with a clear roadmap to delivery.
  • Implement the optimal team size, structure, skill set, and behaviours required to support the unified operating model.
  • Limit the risk exposure to the business through proactive ownership and management of the various reports within the Team.
  • Establish department priorities and ensure all operational KPIs and SLAs are clearly defined and met. Regularly report on performance along with proposed mitigation and / or improvements.
  • Use existing MI and data to analyse performance, trends and opportunities for improvement. Where necessary identify additional sources of data required to support operational planning and management.
  • Ensure quality targets are met and all processing and training is in line with both operational and compliance policy. Undertake regular quality and compliance audits and report on findings.
  • Manage relationships with key third parties such as the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, Legal Ombudsman, and Insurers.
  • Review, submit and notify claims to our insurers and maintain a record for reporting purposes.
  • Work closely with the Head of Legal Practice and provide day to day support of ongoing regulation and compliance matters such as complaints, breach reports, risk reports, and general compliance.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE OF HEAD OF REGULATORY OVERSIGHT

  • Knowledge of Conveyancing.
  • An understanding of the CLC Code of Conduct.
  • Experience of working in a team environment.
  • Experience of dealing with customers.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and research skills.
  • Highly organised - able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines / timescales.
  • Previous experience in a Compliance / quality / operational role within a regulated industry.
