This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, resilient, and committed to supporting students with complex needs, helping them thrive in an inclusive and nurturing environment.About the Role : As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting students aged 11-18 with a range of additional needs, including :

  • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges
  • Challenging behaviours and attachment difficultiesYou will work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide academic and emotional support, deliver small-group interventions, and help students regulate their emotions in a safe and structured setting.Key Responsibilities : 🔹 Support students in and out of the classroom, ensuring they are engaged and progressing in their learning.🔹 Plan and deliver small-group and 1 : 1 interventions, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation.🔹 Use de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies to support students with challenging behaviours.🔹 Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson materials and create a supportive learning environment.🔹 Assist with daily routines, social skills development, and building students' confidence and independence.🔹 Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including therapists and SEN specialists, to provide holistic support.What We're Looking For :
  • Previous experience working with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, or other additional needs (in a school, PRU, or alternative provision setting).
  • HLTA qualification or extensive experience as a Teaching Assistant with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A compassionate and resilient approach to working with students who may display challenging behaviours.
  • A commitment to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
