Job Summary :

Senior Financial Accountant within the Development segment financial accounts team. The role is responsible for the reporting of the actual results of certain developments and legal entities within the Development segment on a quarterly basis internally and to JV parties. The role will require interaction with multiple stakeholders internally and externally including the development debt and JV parties.

The Development segment comprises the development and construction elements of the wider CWG business. The Group currently has over £2bn of construction activity and a pipeline that includes more than 500k square feet NIA of commercial properties and over 2,300 new homes for sale and rent. The Development team are responsible for the initial activities of the development process; analysing the development potential of our land bank and commissions design teams to design concept schemes for consideration. The Construction Group is responsible for the build of the project, managing contractors and activities on site.

The role will assist the finance team to ensure an efficient quarterly close process for shareholder reporting and interim and year end statutory financial reporting as well as high quality management information, analysis and insight is available.

Annual Salary circa £75k

Main Responsibilities :

1.Ensure quarterly segment reporting is prepared accurately and in accordance with the requirements of the Group’s main reporting deadlines Responsible for the reporting of the actual results of certain developments and legal entities within the Development segment on a quarterly basis internally and to JV parties. Detailed quarterly review of quarterly results and preparation of associated support schedules to ensure that financial information is accurate.

2.Responsible for preparation of management accounts for reporting to joint venture partners, including consolidations. Working with the Development management team review of funding requirements and facilitating equity calls from the JV partners.

3.Take ownership from a financial accounts perspective in interactions with tax, legal and development finance on restructuring, debt deals and other corporate transactions. Preparation of the accounting papers to support the treatment of the transactions.

4.Reconcile cost incurred to date to construction and development cash flows and development finance draw downs.

5.Delivery of the UK GAAP or IFRS compliant annual financial statements within the required timeframe and iXBRL tagging, acting as the main point of contact with auditors and dealing with audit queries

6.Ensure intercompany billings for the segment are up to date and work with tax to ensure cashflow impacts are understood and forecast.

7.Management of a financial accountant, including performance management, training and development.

8.To identify and implement system and process improvements.

9.To assist in the application of new accounting standards as necessary, including FRS 102 and IFRS

10.Perform other finance tasks as required.

What We Require of You :

1.Must be ACA or ACCA qualified with a minimum of 2 years post qualified experience. Experience of having worked in an industry financial accounting role in the development / construction industry is essential.

2.Must have a good understanding of accounting standards; including old UK GAAP, FRS 102, IFRS and Companies Act requirements for financial statements, specifically those that apply to the development / construction industry.

3.Must possess excellent IT skills and be an advanced user of MS Excel. Experience in using Yardi and CaseWare Accounts Production software would be advantageous.

4.Bring energy and passion for what they do. A self-starter that is prepared to challenge the norm and explore new ways of doing things.

5.Strong attention to detail and agility to work across a range of areas is critical. Must be able to take ownership of tasks, bear responsibility for work produced.

6.Very organised with exceptional time management skills – able to work under pressure, prioritising and meet competing deadlines. Ability to effectively manage upwards is essential.
