Job description

The role and opportunity

AgResearch is seeking a dedicated Financial Accountant to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, based at our Lincoln Campus in Canterbury.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to use their financial acumen and leadership skills to improve business performance and enhance the impact being made by the Corporate Finance team. As Financial Accountant, your role will have primary responsibility for fixed assets and capital expenditure. You will also support the team to cover the accounting responsibilities for AgResearch’s subsidiaries and associates, assisting the Group Finance Manager to meet requirements for all statutory reporting, group management reporting, treasury, and taxation. This role works closely with the Business Planning and Performance team, as well as assisting staff in other groups around the organisation.

Minimum guaranteed hours : 40 per week

What you will be doing

  • Managing fixed assets, depreciation, and capital expenditure processes
  • Preparing depreciation and capital expenditure forecasts and budgets
  • Supporting capital expenditure business case preparation
  • Preparing monthly financial reporting and assisting with year-end Group Consolidated Financial Statements
  • Providing accounting support to corporate areas of the business

Your ideal background

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent.
  • Experience with fixed assets and capital expenditure.
  • A strong understanding of accounting standards, processes, and financial analysis.
  • Business analysis and project management skills.
  • Ability to balance conflicting demands and achieve results.
  • Effective communication skills on both an oral and written level.
  • A keen attitude and motivation to work in an innovative environment
  • Ability to work autonomously while being part of a collaborative team
  • Demonstrates safe workplace behaviour by taking all practicable steps to ensure own and others' safety in the workplace
