Job Overview : The AMHP will be responsible for conducting Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments, managing risk, and ensuring legal compliance in mental health interventions. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role involves safeguarding, crisis intervention, and supporting individuals experiencing acute mental health distress.Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct Mental Health Act assessments and make legal determinations for compulsory treatment.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, social workers, police, and medical professionals.
- Manage risk and crisis situations, ensuring appropriate interventions.
- Advocate for service users' rights, ensuring person-centered care.
- Safeguarding responsibilities, including risk management and protection planning.
- Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act 1983, Care Act 2014, and other relevant legislation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and case records in line with legal requirements.Requirements :
- Qualified Social Worker / Nurse / Occupational Therapist with AMHP status.
- Social Work England / NMC / HCPC registered.
- Experience in mental health services, crisis intervention, and risk management.
- Strong knowledge of Mental Health Law and Safeguarding Procedures.
