Consultant Cross Sectional Radiologist with interest in GI Radiology

The advertised post is for a substantive consultant diagnostic radiologist with a subspecialty interest in GI radiology at Barts Health NHS Trust which will be one of several new substantive radiology posts to support the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) for Northeast London which is a CDC exemplar supporting Research, Education and Training for the radiographic Team.

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our existing team of 73 radiologists based at The Royal London and St Bartholomew's Hospitals who support the existing service and the active training programme. The post will be based at Mile End Hospital, The Royal London Hospital and or St Bartholomew's Hospital depending on need and subspecialty interest.

You will join our dedicated team of 73 general radiologists and 4 dedicated GI Radiologists who currently support general Imaging services as well as the rapidly increasing demand for liver and GI imaging particularly in relation to CT and MR Imaging, GI fluoroscopic procedures and supporting the specialist MDT's.

The successful applicant should have completed training in diagnostic radiology and be within 6 months of their CCT. They should have a specialist interest in either Hepatobiliary or Luminal GI radiology. They will be required to obtain ILS training and spend some of their reporting time (likely one day per week) at Mile End hospital depending on need.

Main duties of the job

Duties of the Post

To help with the reporting of cross-sectional images performed on the new MRI and CT scanners at the CD
To contribute to the high-quality Consultant-led diagnostic imaging service at Barts and The Royal London Hospitals.
To contribute to supporting the need for an ILS trained radiologist at the CDC covering the contrast administration in case of a contrast reaction
To contribute to the specialist MDTs on a rota with subspecialist colleagues
To join the general on-call service 1 in 20 from home with SPR cover on site
To always adhere to the appropriate clinical and quality standards
To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with colleagues, general practitioners' community services, and all healthcare agencies
To maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work
To participate fully in the management of the Departments and to liaise closely with the respective clinical and academic group director and Divisional Manager.
