Consultant Stroke Physician

Job summary

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust wishes to appoint a Consultant Stroke Physician. This post will be primarily based at Watford General Hospital where all the clinical sessions will occur. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, friendly stroke team of three Substantive Stroke Consultants and be part of the larger medicine for the Elderly department.

The appointee will provide 8.5PA of inpatient and outpatient services, including support of the thrombolysis service (9 : 00-17 : 00), provision of ward rounds on the hyper-acute and acute Stroke Unit and participation in Stroke outpatient and TIA clinics.

1 SPA flexibility and an additional 0.5 SPA (2 in total a week) if you agree to help supervise trainees.

This change is in line with the Trusts' flexible working agenda and recognition of the enormous contribution that this group of staff continue to provide to our staff and patients.

To enhance our reputation as an Employer of Choice, the Trust has approved the following Recruitment and Retention incentive for each successful candidate.

• 7,000 golden hello payment  for new recruits to be paid in 12 equal instalments
• 12k recruitment and retention fee year 1, 2 & 3  (paid in equal monthly instalments) (new recruits and existing consultants)
• Successful candidates will be also eligible for a relocation allowance in excess of £12,000  (if required)

A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and their Clinical Lead and Clinical Director, on behalf of the Divisional and Medical Director, three months after the commencement date of the appointee.
