Estimator

Our Renfrewshire-based client is looking for an Estimator to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis.As an Estimator, you are responsible for estimating a range of enquiries, considering all material, labour, and third-party costs, leading to successful projects wins, and delivery, based on accurate costing. Adept at pricing from drawings, sketches, and site visits.THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

• Higher level qualification in a fabrication or engineering subject.
• Previous experience as a fabrication estimator.
• Site installation experience.
• The ability to read and understand drawings and interpret material and welding requirements.
• Working knowledge of standard and special steel grades, industry standard labour norms, and NDT and testing standards.
• Experience of estimating small to large steel fabrications and pipework / site installation projects, drawing on knowledge and experience of working in a similar environment (preferred).
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.JOB DESCRIPTION
• Estimate project costs as part of the tendering procedure various areas of the business but mainly within the fabrication / welding sector of the business.
• Prepare estimates in the advised standard format for all enquiries, and consult with other departments e.g., procurement, production, project management and quality.
• Consult with supply chain contacts (in conjunction with procurement) to obtain the best value supply of materials and services for projects.
• Set-up and maintenance of enquiries and records within the company IT structure and following standard guidelines for all records.
• Report to Line Manager and Directors on the status of all project enquiries / bids.
• Deputise for the Estimating Manager as required.
• Ensure compliance with Company Health, Safety, and Environmental Procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Company Quality Assurance Procedures.Primary Objectives :

• Accurate estimates, borne out by post project reviews.
