Salary Range : $25-$60 (depending on location, education, and certifications)

Location : Lubbock, TX

Hours Requirement : Minimum of 10 hours of interpreting services per month (at leadership's discretion).

Candidate Qualifications :

  • Ability to pass our skills assessment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • Interpreter certification
  • 3 years' interpreting experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to travel independently within the metropolitan area, with access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, and insurance

    Sorenson Communications seeks part-time Deaf and hearing interpreters to provide high-quality services across multiple locations. Hours will align with community demand.

    Applicants must demonstrate excellent language skills in ASL and English and provide excellent customer service. All applicants must pass a skills screening.

  • Interpret effectively between ASL and spoken English (hearing interpreters)
  • Interpret between ASL, Tactile ASL, other visual communication forms, and written English (Deaf interpreters)
  • Follow Sorenson policies, procedures, and NAD-RID Code of Conduct
  • Provide excellent customer service professionally and respectfully
  • Work effectively with colleagues and support team members
  • Meet performance and customer service expectations with minimal supervision
  • Continue education and training to enhance skills
  • Maintain compliance with licensure and certification requirements
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to meet community needs
  • Work effectively in diverse, fast-paced environments
  • Adhere to attendance requirements
  • Represent Sorenson professionally in the field
  • Mentor interns when appropriate
  • Be punctual and prepared for engagements
  • Adapt to assignment changes flexibly
  • Use technology for reporting and billing
  • Complete additional duties as assigned
