We are looking for anexperienced strategic commissioning manager who is passionate about improvingoutcomes for children, young people and families tojoin our Childrens Commissioning and Contract Management team. This seniorpost holder will lead a team and manage a programme of commissioning with aspecific focus on children looked after and care leavers.

Following a period of growth, this is anexciting time to join our senior management team as we lead and develop aservice that has tripled in size in the last 18 months and functions as aprofessional, resilient and well-established commissioning service.

You will be joining a supportive andhighly skilled team which champions Bradfords commissioning and contractmanagement practice and functions as key driver for developing services forchildren within the wider health and care partnership.

The role will work as part of a wider childrens commissioning and contract management team that commissions early help, SEND and education services as well as placements for children in care and other specialist services.

Main duties of the job

This role is focused specifically oncommissioning services to meet the needs of children looked after. You will lead a team to develop thechildrens sufficiency strategy and to develop local provider markets to meetcommissioning needs for children looked after and care role requires a strong ability to work effectively with partners, those with lived experience, commissioned providers and wider stakeholders to deliver excellent, high-quality services which meet the needs of Bradford residents.

Significant experience of managingcomplex and high value commissioning activities is essential, along with acomprehensive understanding and experience in strategic planning, thecommissioning process, performance monitoring and ability to rapidly reviewpolicy, evidence and data to define need.Successful candidates will demonstrate adetailed understanding of the legislation and working practices related to thispopulation of young people, particularly in regard to the provision offostering and childrens home placements. They will have significant knowledgeof commissioning practices and the application of the cycle of commissioning.

Significant experienceof working in a commissioning or related role and managing individuals or teamsof staff to deliver high value or complex commissioning or service developmentprojects. They should demonstrate a commitment toensuring that children and young people have a voice and ability to influenceservices they access.
