Materials Planner

Tanfield (Home of Penn State pretzels…)

On-site / permanent role / Days based, Monday to Friday

As Materials Planner, you’ll ensure that sufficient raw materials are available to fulfil all aspects of the production schedule, OTIF.  You’ll work with other teams to provide enough raw materials to meet demand and ensure successful production timelines. Additionally you’ll provide input and work to ensure that customer service scores are met and focus on controlling raw material stock levels, enabling cost efficiencies across the site.

As Materials Planner, what will you be doing?

Placing PO’s with suppliers

Monitor expected deliveries, delivery dates, and report any risks to Supply Chain Planner

Manage bulk and site specifics, verify that there is enough space for receiving raw materials and take into consideration warehouse layout (e.g. allergens)

Work / negotiate with suppliers to get the best material supply service for the site

Influencing procurement on MOQ / NOQ

Responsible for running MRP

Track supplier performance and share data with Site and Procurement Team

Responsible for reporting on Raw Material SLOB (Slow Moving & Obsolete) risks

Delivery of key metrics and information at site – Days on Hand ( DOH ), Inventory Target Setting ( ITS ), Inventory Driver Analysis (IDA) , Data Integrity (DI) , Total Supply Chain Time (T SCT ), etc.

Attend MCMs (Material Change Meeting)

Collaborate closely and partner with the Supply Chain Planner to ensure seamless alignment and delivery within the department, providing over and support as required.

Work closely with the Site Technical Team to resolve quality issues relating to materials

Factory volume of circa 5000 tonnes per year

40 Finished Goods SKU’s of varying complexity

160 Material UIC’s of varying complexity

30 Suppliers

4 packing lines, 3 pretzel / baked ovens and 1 pellet fryer

Total employees at site of >

100 operating 24 / 5

Specialising in baked snacks, crackers, shapes, including Penn State pretzels

65% KP branded product, 35% retailer branded products

We’d love to hear from you if you can demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience :

  • Experience of working within food manufacturing / production environment and / or FMCG
  • Prior experience working with ERP / MRP Supply planning systems (Desirable but not essential)
  • Able to work with data and information / Able to follow a plan
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills using relevant tools
  • Experience using data to influence others
  • Strong numeracy aptitude
  • Strong Excel skills
