What experience do you have in managing challenging stakeholders and running tenders in a local authority setting? Are you immediately availabel or on a short notice period?

An exciting opportunity as a Interim Procurement Manager at a Local Authority, working for a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. Responsible for managing challenging stakeholders, running tenders, and ensuring compliance with procurement legislation changes. Ideal for a confident negotiator with experience in procurement and advising on specifications. The role involves hands-on support for a team and requires presence in the office 2-3 days per week.

Main responsibilities :

  • Prepare for changes in procurement legislation PR24 by managing challenging stakeholders and running tenders
  • Draft documents, advise on specifications, and oversee the procurement process from start to finish
  • Ensure compliance with PCR and work on a variety of categories including, facilities maintenance, housing, property repairs and professional services
  • Deal with challenging stakeholders by having frank conversations and being willing to say no when necessary

Person specification :

  • Experience in managing challenging stakeholders effectively, including having frank conversations and being able to say no when necessary
  • Ability to run tenders, draft documents, and advise on specifications, demonstrating a clear understanding of procurement processes
  • Confidence in negotiating and challenging, ensuring compliance with procurement legislation such as PCR
  • Capability to manage the entire procurement process from start to finish, showcasing a high level of professionalism and expertise
  • Qualification in CIPS is highly desirable, but consideration can be given if other relevant experience is demonstrated
  • Experience in Local Authority
  • Availability to start immediately, with a willingness to work on a 6-month contract basis
