NEW VACANCY! (PK8615) PRODUCTION MANAGER SOUTH WALESSalary £OPEN (Depending on Experience)Our client is a leading, award-winning designer and manufacturer of innovative packaging solutions. They manufacture both Corrugated and Timber Packaging. They are currently looking for a Production Manager to join their team. You will be responsible for overseeing the effective operation of all production processes ensuring the efficient manufacture and delivery of products while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and performance. In this role you will ensure the compliance with industry standards, fostering supplier relationships, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to drive the operational success and meet the company targets. Key Responsibilities : Reporting to the Plant ManagerFull accountability for all aspects of production operations, including safety, manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvementOversee daily production activities, ensuring targets are met across departments and production linesManage workflow to meet production specifications and deadlines, resolving any operational issues that ariseDrive the site's strategic development and ensure alignment with business objectives and service goalsEnsure optimal resource planning, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to maintain cost-effective and efficient operationsMonitor production processes and equipment, making necessary adjustments to meet performance specificationsManage supplier relationships to ensure high-quality materials are sourced at competitive costs, contributing to overall production efficiencyLead, mentor, and develop team leaders and supervisors, fostering an environment of empowerment, motivation, and continuous improvementConduct performance evaluations, manage training, and identify development needs to maximise employee potentialManage employee relations, including resolving disputes, conducting disciplinary actions, and ensuring a positive working environmentEnsure adequate staffing and coverage to meet production demands, addressing absence, performance, and talent management needs effectivelyLead and if necessary, enforce compliance with all SHEQ standards across the sitePromote a culture of safety leadership by conducting safety audits and proactively addressing risks and demonstrating SHEQ Leadership behavioursEnsure all team members are trained and adhere to the company's safety policies, with a focus on creating a safe working environment for all employeesEnsure the safety of yourself and others in compliance with trade regulations, and conduct regular checks on the safety of equipment and working conditionsOversee quality assurance processes, ensuring that all products meet the required standards, including ISO9000 and FSC certificationsWork closely with the Quality department to continuously improve product quality and production processesMaintain accurate and complete documentation for quality checks and compliance with relevant industry standardsDrive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing tools and techniques, reducing waste and downtime, increasing productivity, and optimizing operational efficiencyLead the implementation of strategic improvement projects across the site, fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellenceChampion LEAN and 5S activities, ensuring production teams are trained and engaged in continuous improvement effortsBuild and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality materialsDevelop positive relationships with customers, ensuring production meets their specifications and delivery schedulesCollaborate with internal business functions, such as Sales and Design, to enhance service offerings and improve cross-departmental communicationLiaise with other departments (e.g., Sales, Engineering, Logistics) to ensure seamless coordination of production activities and material supplyAct as the primary point of contact for site-related issues, resolving problems quickly and efficientlyProvide regular reports to senior management on production performance, strategic initiatives, and operational improvementsMonitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, quality control, production efficiency, and cost managementEnsure that all production staff maintain clear and accurate production documentationTake ownership of month-end stock checks and ensure timely, accurate reporting of resultsRequirements : Proven experience in a Production Management or similar role within a manufacturing environmentStrong leadership skills with experience managing teams in a fast-paced production environmentKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and HSSQE complianceExcellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities under pressureStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organizationCommitment to health & safety, quality, and industry compliance standardsILM Level 5 or equivalent qualification in managementFamiliarity with ISO standards, FSC certification, and quality management systemsExperience with production scheduling and manufacturing systems, including ERP software
