Please note this role does offer hybrid working, our model sets out a minimum 60% onsite / 40% home working split.

Overview

The MBU is a new structure within Tokamak Energy. We want to usher in the HTS era.

As a manufacturing process engineer, you will develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes within MBU with a focus on safety, quality, and repeatability. It will involve working closely with the R&D, technical, design, safety, and quality teams to achieve a robust, reliable, and scalable manufacturing model.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new HTS coil manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Improve existing manufacturing processes to ensure it can accommodate both custom and scalable production.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to transition innovations into production-ready processes.
  • Participate in design and build of HTS coil manufacturing tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Oversee and assess new and existing processes and workflows.
  • Perform risk assessments to ensure new and existing manufacturing processes meet company EHS requirements.
  • Create, update, and maintain manufacturing documents.
  • Assess compliance and adherence to quality standards as well as implement and maintain quality control plans and requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering or appropriate experience and proven track record of manufacturing process development.
  • Experience in manufacturing tooling design, build, and commissioning.
  • Ability to write manufacturing process documentation (Work instructions, process flows, route cards, control plans, etc.).
  • Experience of working with superconducting materials and coil winding tooling is desirable.
  • Great communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to report project status, issues, and plans concisely and effectively in different forums.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Proactive, energetic, and delivery-focused, with good problem-solving skills.
