Job Title : SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Location : Locks Heath

Salary Range :  £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)

Start time : Immediate

Contract :  Day-to-day / Long-term, Part-time / Full-time

About the role :

This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are enthusiastic about helping children with a range of special educational needs. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo to ensure pupils receive the tailored support they need to succeed within a mainstream or specialist setting.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide dedicated support to pupils with varying SEND needs including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and SEMH.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of individualised learning plans.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents / carers.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement through appropriate interventions.
  • Help with personal care tasks where necessary, ensuring pupils’ dignity and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.

Job Requirements :

  • Previous experience working with SEN students or relevant training in special education is preferred.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and Speech and Language difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs .
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
