Assistant Head of Year – Oldham

A dedicated and passionate Head of Year is required to work at a popular secondary school in Oldham, to join them on a full-time basis, in September 2024, on an ongoing basis, likely to be for the full academic year on a full time basis.

An assistant head of year with a passion for supporting students combined with strong behaviour management skills to guide students and help them achieve the best possible outcome. We are looking for an assistant head of year who will respond to behaviour issues across the school, acting as a trusted adult and a positive role model, whilst providing consistent boundaries. You will work alongside the pastoral and teaching teams to help create a positive learning environment that is supportive and nurturing. You will aim for high achievement in an environment which is based on rewards, not sanctions.

The opportunity is to work at a school that has ‘Good’ behaviour and attitudes, which means students behave well in lesson and around the school site. Teachers’ expectations of pupils’ behaviour and achievements are high. There are also wide opportunities for students to engage in the local community and in the school life.

Minimum rate of pay – from £110 per day.

Hours – 8 : 30am – 4pm

Experience, Training and qualifications :

  • Secondary School experience or evidence of working with children
  • GCSE English and Maths grade ‘C’ or ‘4’ & above
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential, however training can be provided)
  • Up to date Prevent training issued in the last 3 years (essential, however, training can be provided)
  • Up to date behaviour management & FGM training (essential, however training can be provided)

To be eligible you must have / be :

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide a minimum of two references covering the last 2 years.
