Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the exciting role of SVQ Assessor within the Childhood Practice team, with a focus on assessing Playwork qualifications.
The role will involve work-based assessment and internal verification for candidates completing the SVQ Playwork awards. It will also include the assessment and verification of the SVQ Social Services Children and Young People awards and the SVQ units delivered on our HNC Childhood Practice courses.
The ideal candidate will have significant occupational experience in a relevant role in a setting offering play opportunities for children and young people, and have a good understanding of how the Playwork Principles are applied in practice to support the child’s right to play.
To meet regulatory requirements SVQ Assessors for these awards must have a registerable qualification acceptable to the SSSC for the area and level of practice being assessed, and have knowledge and experience of the regulation and legislation applicable to the sector including the SSSC Codes of Practice.
Applicants should either hold a recognised assessor award or be willing to work towards this.
