At Saint Gobain we are looking a Financial Accountant (General Ledger) to work in our Shared Service Centre in East Leake

This is a fantastic opportunity for a newly qualified accountant to join our passionate and knowledgeable Shared Service Centre (SSC) as a Financial Accountant. This exciting role will provide an opportunity for stepping into you’re your first management role managing and developing the General Ledger team for multiple SSC clients, processes and systems. You will also participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the General Ledger process area, and across the SSC.

Finance is part of the Professional Services team at Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland

This role can be worked on a Hybrid basis.

What we’re looking for :

Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent).
Knowledge of General Ledger accounting principles, activities and processes.
Knowledge of local statutory accounting rules.
Awareness of IFRS and local fiscal rules.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence SSC senior management and team members.
Good communications skills, including the confidence to challenge and question if needed.

What you will be doing :

In this role as a Financial Accountant, you will :

Prepare and post all accruals and all journal entries into SAP as agreed with clients

Reconcile sub-ledgers with general ledger

Perform the fixed asset accounting, reporting and reconciliation process

Finalise month end and inter-company reconciliation processes in liaison with AP, CM and AR team members

Prepare monthly and yearly balance justifications and balance sheet reconciliation file

Prepare the monthly KPI’s and associated analysis providing SSC management and Client with all relevant information and actions required

Prepare monthly sign off file for multiple clients

Populate the group reporting package with the financial data

Assist in the preparation of periodical declarations such as VAT, Intrastat, PSA, etc.

Anticipate month-end processes to ensure smooth and efficient closing

Respect closing calendar

Perform financial activities to help other SSC members to meet performance objectives

Assist in the preparation of yearly statutory accounts and supporting documents for local auditors

Work with own team and / or with other process teams to identify, and implement improvement opportunities

Deliver high levels of customer service
