The RMX Business Manager oversees a current portfolio of 17 ready-mixed concrete (RMX) operations across a specific territory, generating £45m+ revenue. This role holds P&L responsibility, demanding excellence in financial management, commercial management, operational strategy, sales leadership, and team development. The manager is responsible for maintaining high levels of profitability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Management

Direct responsibility for a £45m+ revenue business, driving financial strategies that ensure profitability and sustainable growth. Perform financial forecasting, risk analysis, and resource allocation to optimise financial health across all operations.

Strategic Leadership and Operational Excellence

Develop and implement business strategies to maximise efficiency and profitability across all sites. Lead and mentor production and sales management teams, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Sales and Market Development

Head the sales department, including external and internal sales staff, to achieve top-line growth targets. Innovate and adapt sales strategies in response to market trends and competitive pressures.

Production Oversight

Ensure that production processes across all 17 sites are optimised for maximum efficiency and quality. Collaborate with production managers to identify and implement cost-saving measures and technological advancements.

Quality Control and Compliance

Uphold the highest standards of product quality and compliance with industry regulations.

Implement rigorous quality assurance processes to maintain customer trust and satisfaction.

Stakeholder Engagement

Engage with key stakeholders including the senior leadership team and major clients to report on business performance and strategic direction.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Required Skills and Qualifications :

  • Experience in managing large P&Ls, preferably within the RMX industry or similar sectors.
  • Proven track record of financial management and business growth.
  • Higher education desirable, with a preference for civil engineering or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage senior-level direct reports across production and sales.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and profitability analysis.
  • Robust understanding of the construction materials industry, market dynamics, and customer needs.
