supporting children and young people in a residential settingconfidence to work with colleagues at times of heightened behaviours to de-escalate situationsexperience of using de-escalation techniques to keep children and young people safeexperience making decisions and taking action in challenging situationsan understanding of detailed and accurate daily record keeping, incident reportingbe creative when engaging and establishing trust with children and young peopledemonstrate sound communication and judgementclarity over protecting personal and professional boundaries at all timesCommitment - We are looking for individuals who can :
provide availability and maintain this for the duration of the support requiredto take time to read relevant reports, referrals and profiles to gain insight to the child or young personPersonality - our specialist staff teams are successful because they are passionate and have a deep commitment to providing safety and support when it is needed most. To join this team we look for individuals who demonstrate the following :
calmness during crisis situations such as aggression, self harm, destructive behaviours for exampleconfidence in your experience to support you making prompt decisions on a daily basisunderstanding of how trauma, previous experiences and diagnoses can impact day to day behaviours of children and young peoplenon judgemental keeping an open mind and refraining from criticising even during challenging situationsresilience to continue supporting through particularly stressful situations and to keep trying new ways to engage and build trustobservant your observations and outcomes of support will have a significant impact on the child's / young person's journey, you will have heightened awareness levels and the ability to share these insights through your reports and meetings with other professionalsSkills and training
