Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer – Stafford

Location : Stafford | 💼 Type : Permanent

Salary : £28,295 – £45,5000+ Overtime + Travel Time + On-Call Retainers

Joining Bonus : £1,000 Golden Handshake

Realistic OTE : Up to £55,000+ per annum

We’re working in partnership with a leading national provider of fire safety and electrical services who are looking to expand their team with a talented and motivated Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer based in the Stafford area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a growing business with a strong presence in the social housing sector, where no two days are the same. You’ll be provided with all the tools and support you need—including a company van, fuel card, uniform, full test equipment, mobile, and laptop—to succeed in a highly rewarding role.

The Role :

As a Fire Service & Maintenance Engineer, your core responsibility will be the PPM servicing and reactive maintenance of life safety systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and more. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality service and maintaining compliance to ensure tenant safety across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Service, maintain, and install fire alarm systems (BS5839-1), emergency lighting, access control, and nurse call systems
  • Complete and submit detailed service reports
  • Identify system deficiencies and recommend improvements
  • Maintain and inspect associated safety equipment (fire extinguishers, AOVs, etc.)
  • Manage van stock efficiently and liaise with internal departments for restocking
  • Ensure a safety-first approach to all works
  • Aim for a first-time fix where possible

About You :

We’re looking for engineers with a passion for safety and a strong eye for detail. Ideally, you will have :

  • Proven experience working on both analogue addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
  • FIA qualifications (or equivalent) – BS5839-1
  • A solid understanding of British Standards (particularly BS5839 parts 1 & 6)
  • Strong IT skills for digital reporting and communication
  • A full, clean UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to participate in an on-call rota and work overtime
