Are you a skilled Conservator looking for an exciting opportunity to contribute to the preservation of historic collections? We are seeking an experienced Conservator to work on a project within the iconic Titanic Quarter, focusing on the care of photographic and audio / visual material in PRONI’s collections.
Main Duties :
- Undertake a survey of PRONI’s photographic collections and content to identify cellulose nitrate negatives.
- Assess condition and recommend improvements for the collection care of photographic and audio / visual material.
- Identify various photographic processes and recommend suitable housing and optimal environmental conditions.
- Contribute to the specification of requirements for offsite storage provision for photographic and A / V materials as necessary.
Essential Criteria :
MA in a practical conservation course or equivalent workplace training.Demonstrable experience (minimum 6 months post-qualification) in evaluating conservation damage and risks to photographic or audio / visual collections.Successful completion of conservation treatments and documentation according to ICON Professional Standards or ICRI Code of Conduct on paper-based collections or books.Experience managing a conservation project, such as a collection survey.Strong understanding of preventive conservation and passive measures to lower deterioration rates.How to Apply :
