About the role

The Controls Calibration Technician role exists to ensure that all items of plant and equipment across the Nottingham site is maintained to the appropriate standard to ensure that performance is safe, reliable and in accordance with the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP). As part of the role there will be times when delivery of continuous improvement and technical led fault-finding affecting equipment and performance will be required to support the development of the Manufacturing Facility and contribute to the Supply function meeting its customer service, quality, and cost targets.

This is an engineering focused role, responsible for ensuring compliance within operations.

Your responsibilities

  • Works predominately alone but also with others to provide a Calibration service site wide; responsible for planned calibration activities on manufacturing plant, tablet compressing machines, sterile controls, production lines, process areas or value streams.
  • Ensure appropriate resources, assets and time are available for the application of a systematic approach to engineering which uses key performance indicators to routinely deliver targets and drive performance improvement.
  • Responsible for the management of calibration, improvement, and related breakdown investigation activities.
  • Monitor plant operational efficiency, reliability, and capability; identifying areas of under- performance or opportunity and implement plans to deliver improvement.
  • Escalate calibration performance issues immediately via the site Quality systems to ensure that risk to product or consumer can be assessed in real time and contribute to onward discussion and evaluation.
  • Participate effectively in weekly maintenance review and planning meetings.
  • Ensure items of plant and equipment are maintained to the appropriate standards to ensure their performance is safe, reliable and in accordance with the principles of current GMP.
  • Agree preventative maintenance plans, routine remedial action, machine design modifications, and operating and changeover procedures with Manufacturing Maintenance and Operations teams.
  • Review, respond, interrogate, and modify MMS calibration schedules for and on behalf of the wider (& team. maintain detailed validation records of activities completed.

The experience we're looking for

  • Significant experience as a Controls Technician with key specialist experience in calibration in a pharmaceutical environment or similar.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and packing processes and cGMP requirements and their criticality to the product quality and experience in the trouble shooting and fixing of Instrumentation & Controls systems and manufacturing systems.
  • Preferably should have practical experience in operation and maintenance of large multi- purpose facilities ideally within the Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of all manufacturing control systems and instrumentation, including PLCs & PC based SCADA packages.
  • Knowledge and understanding of process control systems and their criticality to the product quality.
  • Record accurately in real time clear, legible documentation that is free of mistakes, amendments that complies with GMP requirements.
  • Write detailed reports of investigations, findings and recommendations that are audit ready.
  • Knowledge and application of UK and worldwide regulatory standards.
