The RoleBAE Systems are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Christchurch for an initial 12 month contract. Our client is renowned for its innovation and commitment to excellence in the development of cutting-edge military and aerospace technologies.Role Responsibilities : Not limited to...Design and development of packaging & mounting arrangements for COTSDesign of electro-mechanical assembliesProducing part & GA drawingsConducting peer reviewsDesigning for manufacture reviewRouting cables in 3D CADProducing cable / harness assemblies and drawingsWhat BAE Systems are looking for, from you : Qualification in mechanical engineeringExperience as a mechanical design engineerProficiency with 3D CAD packages such as Siemens NX or SolidworksSound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practicesExperience of designing sheet metal, machined parts and assembliesStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication abilitiesExperience with cable routing and managementAttentive to detail and critically mindedDesirable...A basic understanding of electronicsFEA, CFD simulation experienceExperience with designing for EMC complianceExperience with designing for military usageSecurity Requirements : SC, ITAR & UK EYES ONLYThis role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct and / or indirect access to ITAR Material which means there are restriction. If you are unsure as to whether you are eligible, please contact me to discuss.You must also be a sole British national, in order to apply for this position.The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs).
