College Health Practitioner

Full-time, Fixed Term 12 month Contract working Term Time Only.

South Yorkshire-based College.

FTE Salary £36,406 per annum (pro rata £31,225).

The role of a College Health Practitioner is to provide a professional and pro-active health advisory service to all students and to provide advice and guidance relating to specific student health issues to relevant staff. This role involves delivering first aid, offering advice and guidance on physical health matters, and conducting risk assessments related to health.

  • To carry out risk assessments on any high-risk medical condition that a student discloses, to educate staff on the condition and their responsibilities in supporting the learner around their health condition while in lessons.
  • To plan and deliver a monthly Health Promotion programme, tailored to address known relevant health issues, e.g. sexual health, healthy lifestyles, smoking etc. liaising with the Learner Services and Marketing teams to maximise learner engagement with the programme.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles through one to one and group intervention.
  • Provide first aid, supporting the first aid rota.
  • You’ll have :

  • Post-registration experience, including experience within an educational setting.
  • Experience of delivering learning / training to groups of young people and / or staff.
  • Be a registered Nurse on a relevant part of the register.
  • Recognised clinical mental health or contraception and sexual health qualification
  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or willingness to undertake (Grade C / 4).
  • DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one)
