Job Title :  High Level Teaching Assistant / Unqualified TeacherLocation :  Camberwell, SouthwarkEmployment Type :  Permanent, Full-Time (Term Time Only)Salary :  £25,831 - £27,406 FTEStart Date :  April 2025MLK Education Search are pleased to be supporting this specialist school that supports young girls with various needs related to SEMH and SEN, in the search for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to start as soon as possible.Rated as a ‘Good’ school from Ofsted, they provide education, nurture and support across key stages 3 and 4 and are looking for a passionate HLTA to join a vibrant and growing school. The role is varied, and will require an adaptable, flexible, and resourceful individual able to cope in a high-pressure environment and deal with constantly changing priorities.All students have not had successful experiences in a mainstream school environment, many of whom have not been in school or educated for some time. Some have a phobia about attending school which in turn has had a negative impact on self-esteem and engagement.As there are varying levels of ability, extra support is needed in class through both 1 : 1 and smaller groups, to ensure the highest quality of teaching, suitable for each individual's pace of learning.Main PurposeUndertake work and responsibilities in line with the Standards for Higher Level Teaching AssistantsContribute at a higher level in supporting pupils' education.Work with greater autonomy in advancing pupils' learning, for example, in identifying suitable materials and managing tasks within the framework set by the teacher or SENCo.The role will require some small group teaching under the direction of a SENCo, Deputy Head and / or subject leads.Desirable Experience and Qualifications : GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and MathsLevel 4 HLTA qualification or commitment to undergo training after probationary periodSuccessful experience of teaching small groups / individuals, supporting students through accredited subjects (e.g. Functional Skills, GCSE)Successful experience of working with students with behavioural, emotional and social difficultiesPlanning and monitoring progress of individual / small groups and identifying interventions to raise attendance of pupils using data to provide key insights.If you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people and enabling them to shape their own future, then please APPLY NOW
