Job Summary :

  • We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shift / Team Leader to join our residential care home, which specialises in supporting older individuals with dementia.
  • The ideal candidate will have management experience, excellent communication skills, and a sound understanding of CQC regulations.
  • As a confident and reliable leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing shifts, leading the team, and ensuring the highest standards of care are always maintained.
  • You will also be required to administer medication and ensure the well-being of residents through effective team leadership and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • A staff with Management experience as a shift / team leader with CQC knowledge working in residential care home for older people with dementia.

Key Duties / Accountabilities (Sample) :

  • Lead and supervise the team of care staff, ensuring they are providing person-cantered care to all residents, particularly those with dementia.
  • Administer medication in accordance with the care home’s medication policy.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC regulations and work to maintain high standards of care delivery.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and training as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with residents, families, and external professionals.
  • Conduct and attend handovers at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure clear communication about residents’ needs and changes in care.
  • Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed, including reporting concerns in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of care plans and risk assessments for residents.
  • Ensure staff are trained and up to date with mandatory training, including safeguarding, medication, dementia care, and first aid.
  • Lead on day-to-day operations and take responsibility for managing the home in the absence of senior management.
  • Skills / Experience :

  • Proven experience as a Shift / Team Leader in a residential care home setting, ideally with dementia care experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong understanding of CQC regulations and how to ensure compliance.
  • Experience in administering medication and maintaining accurate records.
  • Recent training in safeguarding, appointed first aid, medication management, dementia care, and other relevant topics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead a team and interact effectively with residents, families, and external agencies.
  • Ability to stay calm and make decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • A caring and empathetic nature, with a focus on person-cantered care.
  • Smart, reliable with good communication skills. Confident staff who can shift lead or run the service and administer medication.
  • Additional Information :

  • Minimum qualification is NVQ level 3 or equivalent. Must have recent trainings on Safeguard, Appointed First Aider, Medication, Dementia, etc.
  • Requirements
