Job description

The Learning Design Specialist leads the design of learning solutions that satisfy all relevant regulatory / legal / quality / Heathrow standards and associated competencies. This role will lead on Fire Health & Safety (FH&S) and will support companywide projects and other technical training areas.

  • Designing high-quality, innovative technical and non-technical learning solutions for Fire, Health, and Safety and Firmwide. Lead and develop (or assist external providers in developing), maintain, and manage all FH&S learning materials and interventions.
  • Collaborating as part of agile resource pools with internal SMEs, external suppliers, design specialists, delivery specialists and ‘manage and measure’ as appropriate. Advise and influence learning leads – ensuring learning design solutions are supported by appropriate resource and expertise.
  • Supporting the development of, and work to Heathrow’s learning design standards and principles, including any relevant regulatory / legal / quality / Heathrow standards.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise and tacit knowledge of the standards and governance frameworks applicable to learning design and delivery.
  • Work closely with the suppliers, Learning Leads and Stakeholders to support knowledge transfer, review, refine and update content. Be the link SME to support / guide external suppliers to develop bespoke products for Heathrow.
  • Experienced in learning design, using a range of methodologies, across both technical and nontechnical subject matter. Able to establish clear learning outcomes and include quantifiable means of measuring learning impact.
  • Experienced learning & development professional, with specific record of programme and content design using a variety of learning formats and techniques.
  • Able to work on multiple workstreams and projects concurrently, prioritising workload to meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding and experience in learning intervention design, from concept to delivery.
  • Knowledge of Adult Learning theory. Experience of 5DI an advantage.
  • Experienced in learning analytics and measures to evaluate the impact of learning solutions.
