A bit about the role

  • Meticulous, diligent, and confident; we are looking for a Technician Team Manager to join our dynamic UK Property Team.
  • This role reports to the UK Head of Maintenance, Jason O’Neill, and you will take ownership of strategising the most effective way of deploying our technicians, proactively seeking opportunities to drive value, managing the tech budget, and fostering strong relationships with our shops, Ops, and stakeholders.
  • Reporting into the Head of Maintenance, you will assist in managing and controlling maintenance expenditure in accordance with agreed procedures and budgets.
  • You will be responsible for leading several in-house Technician team Leaders whilst maintaining overall responsibility for our in-house technician team, to ensure we maintain well loved, compliant and cost-effective shops.
  • This role is a permanent role based within our London Victoria Support Centre, 75B.

The magic you’ll bring

  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Highly effective people management skills, able to engage and successfully lead a high-performing team.
  • Experience working within maintenance in the retail sector, ideally with recent experience within the food and beverage sector.
  • Excellent technical knowledge covering electrical and building services, as well as a thorough understanding of statutory compliance required for commercial retail buildings.
  • Extensive experience of dealing with programmes of planned maintenance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to handle both complex and sensitive situations.
  • Experience in knowing when and how to escalate highly sensitive reactive maintenance issues.
  • Fast to respond and concise.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • The day to day

  • You will work with the Maintenance helpdesk Manager and Technician team leaders to ensure call completions and deployment of the technician team is optimised and will include :
  • Contribute to the development of a pro-active maintenance service, ensuring works are completed to agreed timescales, regularly updating the Head of Maintenance on SLA performance.
  • Oversee ad hoc minor alteration and improvement works to shop premises as requested by the Head of Maintenance.
  • Regularly inspect work carried out by our contractors and internal Tech team to ensure quality and value for money of work completed.
  • Develop the team leaders by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, whilst fostering a culture of working safely.
  • Agree individual development plans and provide coaching for team and monitor progress.
  • Manage performance issues with staff in line with company policy.
  • Ensure staff complete necessary training in line with company policy and business plan.
  • Participate with recruitment planning and procedures.
