The Job Role / Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as part of the Fleet department of a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team, looking after all aspects of the fleet vehicles & plant equipment for Lancashire County Council. Day to day you will have a range of responsibilities as you oversee projects through the full life cycle.

Key responsibilities :

  • Assisting with the procurement process by analysing existing vehicle age and vehicle spec
  • Liaising with service users to get an idea of their needs with new vehicles
  • Communicating with workshops with regards to vehicle conditions and arranging disposal of vehicles coming out of the fleet
  • Lead on Fleet projects and initiatives ensuring successful delivery.
  • Updating of fleet records on the system
  • Scheduling LOLER inspections

The Job Requirements :

Applicants will preferably possess a recognised vocational or professional Mechanical qualification, plus a detailed knowledge and broad experience of running and monitoring the costs of multiple vehicle types. The ideal candidate will have a good technical appreciation of vehicle & plant repair.

The candidate will co-ordinate fleet inspections when required and will monitor & report on the fleet condition & the compliance of the fleet.

Applicants must be able to build lasting relationships with end users and manufacturers in order to get a clear picture of what is needed.
