Data Protection Executive

38,700 - £43,000 + £1,000 flex allowance, up to 15% bonus and benefits

Are you our next Data Protection Executive? We are looking for someone with a passion for data privacy to join our busy fast paced data protection team.

If you are a confident communicator with experience in data protection, this role has lots to offer.

What is the role?

Collaborating with the Data Protection Officer, the Data Protection Executive will embed UK GDPR practices throughout the business, addressing gaps and risks related to data protection. Their tasks include ensuring compliance with UK GDPR by handling requests like enquires, DSARs, embedding privacy by design, breaches and delivering training and awareness. Additionally, they'll promote data protection awareness and practices, safeguarding passenger, and employee data.

What will you do? (Accountabilities)

  • Support the continued implementation and compliance of the UK GDPR across all areas of the business acting as a subject matter expert for advice and queries.
  • Responsible for completing ROPA's, DPIA's and data flow mapping.
  • Roll out organisational training and promote a culture of data awareness.
  • Manage and investigate data breaches, liaising with external suppliers, agencies and regulators as required.
  • Take a continuous improvement approach, working towards promoting good information governance across the business.
  • Liaising with stakeholders at all levels taking a collaborative approach, being comfortable to question gaps and risks identified with work processes.

Do you have what we're looking for? (Skills & experience)

  • Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR, how it impacts Gatwick as an organisation.
  • Experience working within a complex organisation delivering data protection or compliance-based changes.
  • Effective communicator : able to interpret data protection legislation and requirements in a manner which can be easily understood for those not familiar with the principles of UK GDPR. Excellent time management skills : the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Relevant data protection qualification such as DDPC or CIPP / E desirable, but not essential.
