Food Technologist

The Role

You will join the Technical Team who are responsible for keeping products safe, legal and compliant as well as supporting with product launches. You will work closely with a range of customers to gain a clear understanding of their requirements for products and packaging. A key aspect of the role will be management of the supply base, customer approvals and auditing.

You will also support NPD projects from a technical perspective with suppliers, key retailers, and food service accounts. This will include product sampling and benchmarking, packaging development, specification and artwork, supplier management and factory visits. You’ll understand the key stages of the NPD process, supporting with quality and technical requirements to ensure a smooth launch.

We are looking for a confident Technologist with a Food Science or related qualification with experience within the food industry. You will ideally have worked within food manufacturing, retail or food service and are now looking for an exciting role to enhance your career.

You will need strong knowledge of BRC and HACCP as well as retailer codes of practice, specifications, and a good awareness of retailer requirements and legislation changes. Knowledge of retailer systems would be a bonus, but full training will be provided. Outstanding communication, influencing and relationship building skills are essential as you’ll be liaising with internal teams as well as suppliers and customers on a regular basis. Your attention to detail, organisational and prioritisation skills also need to be top tier to succeed in this cross functional role.
