LOCATION : Stroud, Gloucestershire

HOURS : 07.30 – 16.00 Monday to Thursday and 07.30 – 13.30 Friday

38 Hours per week

START DATE : Immediate

Vacancy – Manual Machinist

The Manual Machinist will machine components for small batch work as per the drawings provided.

Responsibilities :

  • Making components using the manual mills, lathe, saw and radial drill.
  • Self-inspect components to drawing and report any manufacturing errors to line manager so corrective action can be agreed.
  • Ensure that production requirements are met in line with the production schedule.
  • Continually assess tool condition and maintain, as necessary.
  • Provide input / feedback to decrease run times and down time to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • A degree of flexibility is needed, and the employee may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above.

Requirements, Skills, and Personal Attributes :

  • Experience of working in a machining environment (engineering or metal work).
  • Experience of manual machining.
  • Experience working with CNC machines.
  • Experience of reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
  • Experience with CNC calculating computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software.
  • Good communication, verbal and written skills.
  • Organised, accurate and have an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills to deal with challenging situations.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Be innovative and open to new ideas.
  • Find solutions to problems in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Be resilient and positively adapt to change.
