A local authority requires a Capital Accountant to join their team on a long-term interim contract until March 2026. Are you a Qualified Accountant with experience of preparing capital budgets?

VANRATH are delighted to be partnered with a local authority in Bangor who are currently recruiting a Capital Accountant to join their team. This is a long-term interim contract and is scheduled to run until at least March 2026, with potential for extension.

The Capital Accountant will be reporting to the Head of Finance for the provision of capital accounting services including contributing to the capital budgeting processes, report writing, fixed asset accounting & support project boards in the management of projects.

    • About you

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA)
  • At least 1 years relevant capital accounting experience, including preparation of capital budgets
  • Experience of managing a treasury function
  • Strong IT skills, particularly MS Excel
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Preparation of the Capital budgets, with subsequent budgetary control reporting
  • Maintain finance business partnering support for directorates
  • Management of Treasury function
  • Provision of professional financial advice and information
  • Manage performance across the team
