We are looking for a passionate and dedicated teacher to join their team on a full-time basis as a Year 6 Class Teacher. In this role, you are part of a community of dedicated, friendly staff standing by and upholding its mission in creating and maintaining a supportive and thriving learning environment.

About your role as a Year 6 Class Teacher

As a classroom teacher, you will have excellent knowledge of the curriculum. Some of your duties will include :

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons that align with the curriculum, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all subjects.
  • Regularly assess student progress through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Create and maintain a positive, organised, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages learning and good behaviour.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of all students, including those with special educational needs.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and discussing any concerns or achievements.

What you will need to succeed

  • QTS (or equivalent) and an undergraduate degree in the UK
  • Successful experience of teaching the primary curriculum
  • Good understanding of current theory and best practice in teaching and learning, particularly as it relates to achieving high rates of progress of children of primary age
  • Good subject knowledge of the core National Curriculum
  • Good understanding of child development and progression and how these impact on planning
  • Understanding of effective strategies for managing behaviour within the classroom and in accordance with the school's policy
  • An understanding of equal opportunity issues and how they can be addressed in schools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The right to work in the UK
  • You must hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a DBS through Hays
