Job Title : Teacher of English

Location : Portsmouth, Hampshire

Salary : £30,000 - £46,535 per annum (Depending on experience).

Start time : After Easter 2025 or September 2025

Contract Type : Full-Time (Permanent / Fixed Term) ( Part-time available for the right candidate )

Whether you hold QTS / ECT status, have training from abroad, or are an experienced Teaching Assistant / Cover Supervisor wanting to move into teaching, we welcome your interest.

About the Role

As a Teacher of English , you will play a key role in delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons, nurturing students' love for literature and language. You will inspire confidence in reading, writing, and communication, helping students develop essential skills for their future.

Key Responsibilities :

Plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons in English, ensuring alignment with the national curriculum.
Foster critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in students.
Use innovative teaching methodologies to enhance learning and student engagement.
Monitor student progress and provide targeted support and feedback to enhance achievement.
Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that caters to diverse student needs.
Contribute to curriculum development and collaborate with colleagues on department initiatives.
Support students with coursework, exam preparation and career guidance related to English.

R equirements :

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be an Early Career Teacher (ECT).

Applications from overseas-trained teachers who meet UK teaching standards are welcomed.

Experienced Teaching Assistants or Cover Supervisors looking to progress into teaching will also be considered.

A strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching English.

The ability to engage and inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities.

Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to high expectations.

Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
