HMP Hull are looking for a Mental Health Nurse to provide mental health care to the patients we support within the segregation unit. The new model embeds joint working with primary care nurses and HMPPS to co produce and deliver the standards of care outlined in segregation standards.
To deliver clinical assessment and intervention as dedicated provision for complex patients whilst supporting a whole prison approach.
Main duties of the job
You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse.
A £3,000 Trust welcome bonus will be applied to this post. This incentive is paid as follows; £1,500 upon joining the Trust, £750 after year 1 and £750 after year 2.
To deliver clinical assessment and intervention as dedicated provision for complex patients whilst supporting a whole prison approach. You will carry out comprehensive assessments, confidently communicating treatment options and initiating supportive care plans, and providing evidence-based interventions alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team
You will be committed to a person-centered approach to your work and will have an ability to prioritise and work flexibly. We are looking for skilled professionals who will thrive working in a busy environment in a well resourced team of multidisciplinary professionals, as well as alongside partner providers from a variety of internal and external services.

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV), provide mental health and learning disability services in partnership with Rethink Mental Illness and Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust (HTFT) in 2 prisons in the East Riding of Yorkshire. As part of the new Mental Health contract awarded to TEWV Health & Justice Services in 2022, we are expanding the service provision across HMP Hull and HMP Humber. HMP Hull is a Category B prison and the reception prison for the East Riding area. The establishment serves all courts in the region and accepts prisoners on remand or sentenced by the courts. The predominant population is made up of remand prisoners in the early days of custody whilst engaging in the court processes.
