Technical Sales Representative / Account Manager

Generous basic salary + quarterly commission, based upon maintaining existing and developing new business

Milton Keynes, hybrid and field-based

My client, a leading distributor of ingredients to the personal care industry, operates at the forefront of a thriving and fast-evolving global market, the cosmetics & personal care sector. By sourcing high-quality materials globally and supplying them to well-known brands, this organisation plays a key role in shaping products used daily by consumers. Operating within the UK and internationally, the organisation provides a dynamic environment where employees are empowered to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop in-depth technical knowledge of a diverse range of personal care ingredients, including their chemistry, benefits, and formulation characteristics.
  • Visit customers across the UK to build long-term relationships with R&D, Purchasing, and Marketing teams.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate complex scientific information.
  • Demonstrate ingredients in prototype formulations to showcase the portfolio to customers.
  • Gather and share market trends to support the R&D team in preparing industry presentations.
  • Attend relevant industry events, including UK and international exhibitions.
  • Create growth strategies and account plans to identify new business opportunities.

Key Requirements :

  • Strong academic background in a scientific discipline, ideally to degree level.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm for travel.
  • A motivated self-starter with a passion for developing customer relationships.
  • Quick to learn and eager to understand new technologies.
  • Analytical thinker with a scientific approach to problem-solving.
  • Flexible, organised, and committed to excellent customer service.
  • Able to work independently with strong attention to detail.
