The successful candidate will be able to provide specialist mechanical engineering expertise that is required for designing and building, packaging machinery, automation equipment, jigs, and fixtures to meet the requirements of the business.Mechanical Design Engineer / Derby / Engineering / Permanent Benefits : Salary – £35-45K DOE 25 days AL + BHCompany pension – 5% employee, 4% employerEntry into the monthly prize draw to win a number of free prizes (after completion of probationary period)Free fruit, tea, coffeeDeath in service (x2 salary)Person Specification : Educated to degree level in design, engineering or similarA competent knowledge and experience of SolidWorks CAD package or similarGood computer skills to encompass Microsoft, Outlook, and FileMakerExcellent organisational, timekeeping and communication skillsA competent understanding of engineering and workshop machineryInnovative, creative, and enthusiasticHave a strong eye for detail with the ability to identify and solve problemsA competent knowledge and experience of working with medical packaging and / or devicesAble to work as part of a team and off own initiativeThe ability to follow instructions and prioritise workload productively to meet deadlinesHave a positive attitude with adaptability to support business requirementsKey Responsibilities : To provide mechanical engineering expertise to projects from the concept stage through to commissioning.Assist in the writing of User Requirement Specifications.Assist in creating a Design Specification from the User Requirements SpecificationTo design components, mechanisms, and assemblies (in SolidWorks) to meet the needs of the Design Specification using suitable materials and manufacturing methods to achieve a reliable and cost-effective solution.Create CAD drawings (in SolidWorks) with appropriate tolerancing and manufacturing notes following internal document control systems.Assist in the management of sub-contract manufacture of those components where necessary.Detail component specifications (for bought-in parts), and, where necessary, manage the procurement of components.Creation and loading of Bill of Materials (BOM’s) to the company’s BMS system.Responsible for providing innovative engineering solutions to machine design problemsIf you feel you have the desired skillset please submit your most recent CV by clicking the ‘apply’ button
