A secondary school in Tameside is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for supporting students and helping them overcome barriers to learning, particularly those with additional learning needs.
Responsibilities :
- Providing 1 : 1 and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) , including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia , and other learning challenges.
- Assisting students with their academic progress, focusing on core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science.
- Helping to create tailored learning resources and adaptations for students based on their individual needs.
- Supporting students in both the classroom and in smaller settings such as break-out sessions to ensure they can focus and engage with their learning.
- Assisting with classroom management and helping students develop key skills such as social interaction and emotional regulation.
- Liaising with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to provide the best support for students.
- Assisting with assessment and monitoring student progress, providing regular feedback on student performance.
Qualifications :
Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (preferred but not essential).An understanding of different learning needs and how to support students effectively.Patient, empathetic, and adaptable , with a genuine interest in making a positive difference to students' lives.Excellent communication and organisational skills , able to work well within a team and independently.A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning (or similar) is an advantage.This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive and inclusive school environment that prioritises the well-being and academic success of its students.
