Role : Local Referral Clerk

District : Barnsley

Location : Wombwell

Salary : Hours : 37

Contract Type : Temporary for 12 months

As a Local Referral Clerk you will provide administrative and call handling support to the Referral Unit.

Key responsibilities :

  • Provide callhandling and administrative support to the PVP Referral Unit.
  • Maintain and update records systems and inventories in the PVP Referral Unit.
  • Create and update records on the SYP Child Protection Database.
  • Process telephone calls to the Referral Unit and prioritise as appropriate.
  • Research persons using CATS PROCAD and Internet systems as appropriate.
  • Liaise with internal departments other Police Forces and Agencies.
  • Provide typing and file preparation support to District PPU Child Abuse Investigation Teams.
  • Attend meetings and produce related reports and minutes.
  • Deal with internal / external enquiries.

Skills and experience :

  • Experience of using Microsoft Word packages.
  • Experience of working with confidential information.
  • Must be able to type / input accurately. (You will be required to take a keyboard and audio typing test at interview).

    Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a prerequisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

    Fixed : This is a traditional arrangement applicable when the work is mostly required to be undertaken at a fixed single place of work (on police premises) for most of the time. The work can only or is more effectively delivered from a police premises or other agreed organisational / partner premises.

    The decision to make all adverts temporary for a fixed term of 12 months is due to the financial position. As the financial position becomes clearer it may be that we can make some of these posts permanent without the need to run a second recruitment process equally they could be ended sooner than the 12 months.
