Location : Robinswood Hill Country Park, GL4 6SX - Hybrid working after successful probation period

Salary : £50,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits!

Contract : Full time, Permanent - 35 hours per week

Benefits : Contributory Pension Scheme, 25 days paid leave per year (rising to 30 days through long service), Christmas shutdown + Bank Holidays,

We are now recruiting for a Head of Finance & Resource Planning to oversee and optimise the financial and resource planning functions across our organisation.

You will take overall responsibility for our financial controls and compliance, resource and portfolio planning and generating income from trusts and grants.

This is the senior leadership role within the function and as such you will ensure the seamless integration of the organisations strategic goals, ensuring that we have the financial resources to deliver our future ambitions.

As our Head of Finance & Resource Planning, you can expect to be responsible for :

Developing and implementing GWT's finance strategy and policies with a long-term approach.

Maximising green finance opportunities and blended income models.

Providing strategic financial guidance and ensure resources are well managed.

Leading, managing, and developing the Finance and Resource Planning team.

Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory financial requirements.

Overseeing budget preparation, monitoring, and Board approval.

Developing a three-year operational business plan, addressing resourcing gaps.

Supporting Trustees, CEO, and SMT with financial performance analysis and forecasting.

Monitoring monthly income / expenditure and provide insights for corrective action.

Ensuring budget holders receive regular financial training and management information.

Overseeing external audits and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Managing banking systems for supporter subscriptions and donations.

Maintaining records and reporting obligations for Landfill Tax projects.

Overseeing payroll, pensions, PAYE / NI processing, and statutory returns.

Managing relationships with insurance providers, banks, legal representatives, and pension providers.

Ensuring smooth operation of the Project Management Framework.

Overseeing financial aspects of GWT's project portfolio, ensuring robust funding plans.

Ensuring timely grant claim management and compliance with funder requirements.

Supporting the Chair of the Finance and Remuneration Committee.

Attending Board and committee meetings as required.

Acting as a Director on the Board of Gloucestershire Wildlife Enterprises.

Overseeing fundraising efforts, ensuring compliance and maximising income.

Supporting funding models and sponsor engagement.

In order to be successful in this role, it's essential that you have / are :

A Qualified Accountant (CCAB qualified of CIMA), alongside a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or demonstrable previous experience.

A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior role within finance and resource planning.

Proficiency in financial software and tools.

Experience in multi-resource planning in a small-medium sized organisation (£4m+)

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to extract and analyse data, identifying relevant trends.

In-depth understanding of compliance requirements related to charity finance and fundraising.

Experience in negotiating and managing contracts with external service providers including auditors, legal, banking, pension and insurance.

Strong understanding of project, programme and portfolio management functions.

Skilled in budgeting from complex sources, VAT, forecasting, risk management and resource allocation.

It would be great if you had :

Project or Programme Management experience / qualifications.

Experience in VAT and report generation within a charity environment.

Knowledge or experience in the oversight of grant and trust fundraising.

Exposure to XLedger.
