Description
The Production Technical Inspector within GMA is responsible for production inspection on daily basis to achieve production of high quality vehicles across all models undertaken by Gordon Murray Automotive.
In this role you will become part of the team to ramp-up of production at a low-volume, cutting-edge automotive manufacturing operation. Responsible for inspection of the iStream® Primary structure, iStream® superlight frame structures, sub-assemblies and parts. Working with Manufacturing engineering team and production team to ensure process targets are met for production.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish strong team member relations, at all levels with a focus on teamwork and inclusion.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering team members.
- Operating Inspection machinery and tools on a low volume production process.
- Quality checking for any defects, labelling finished products.
- Working towards production targets.
- Support production, trials and training activities.
- Support new model activities.
- Support problem solving activities within the team.
- Be available to work OT, shutdowns and travel as needed.
- Work together with GMA / GMAE Engineering members to continuously improve / develop manufacturing process.
- Computer literacy required –Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Communication skills – to be able to liaise and put point across to others.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Metrology, Inspection Methods and Equipment including measurement arm / scanning experienceUnderstanding and interpretation of engineering drawingsExperience in macro checks of arc weldingUnderstanding of manufacturing processes, low volume automotive manufacturing preferableWorking knowledge of problem solving methodologies e.g. 8DAbility to work in a diverse and dynamic environmentCandidate would ideally have knowledge of welded Aluminium structures (structural) or / and composites (structural or visual / painted panels), bonding, plastic mouldings, exterior trim, as well as experience and knowledge in assembly processes.Planning and prioritizing of activitiesGood communication and interpersonal skillsNegotiation skillsWork closely with other QA members within GMAAbility to present data effectivelyUnderstanding of Health and Safety practicesCatia V5 (or alternative CAD system) experience Dimensional verification to the specification.It is anticipated that you will have 5 years relevant experience at an appropriate company or OEMExperience of full product life-cycle activities and ability to achieve Quality, Cost and Delivery targets for productionProficiency in cross functional, cross company, and cross-sectional processes.Must be a team player who can work closely with other teamsBenefits
